Parent-approved channels / allow-list

Build a parent-approved YouTube channel list for your child

Instead of beginning with the whole YouTube catalog and trying to block problems one by one, an allow-list starts from a smaller set of sources the parent has deliberately chosen for that child.

DefinitionA YouTube whitelist or allow-list is a list of channels or sources the parent permits. It is different from a blocklist, which starts broad and removes unwanted items after they appear.

Block-listA broad catalogRemove unwanted itemsLess setup, more reactive moderation

How to build the first approved list

Start with learning jobs

Choose a few sources for reading, math, science, creativity, movement or other interests rather than collecting dozens immediately.

Review recent uploads

A channel changes over time. Check current videos before treating a source as a long-term family fit.

Keep profiles separate

A younger child should not automatically inherit an older sibling's library.

What a parent-approved list does not guarantee

A permitted channel can publish new material or contain videos a family would not choose individually. Approval is a permission decision, not a permanent safety or educational certification. Revisit sources and use blocking/reporting controls when needed.

Start with a smaller, intentional library

WonderKid TV lets parents approve channels per child, then combine that boundary with daily limits, learning rules and viewing reports.
